On the Brighter Side

A place to feel motivated and inspired ♥

Life

So in the next few months I will turn 45.  Okay, so where did all that time go?  I was just 20 yesterday.  My mind thinks I am 12 but my body is realizing that I am getting older.  I see additional wrinkles, body parts are heading south and the middle age spread has occurred, never mind the raging hormones.  This is all just part of the aging process.  I may not like losing my youth but I am loving living this life and all it has to offer.

In my life there have been influential people that have been older than me and I have watched them  embrace life in such a way that I never forgot how they lived or what they did.  How awesome to have a grandma that can go skiing with you.  Or a grandpa what can roller blade with you.  I have seen older people that embrace life and live it fully.   They are never fearful to take vacations away from their home, learn new things or to step out of their comfort zone.  I often wonder if this is a lesson that we learn later rather than earlier in life.   Either way I am thankful that I have realized this now.

So my positive thought is “Embrace life, live it to the fullest, have fun, be kind and enjoy”

Victory Over Cancer

team sunshine 2

As I watched Danni battle cancer I noticed how very strong and determined she was to survive.   She always smiled and was wiling  to help even when she struggled to carry her own work load,  she was always there for her coworkers and those who needed a helping hand.   Here is her story.

My name is Daniella Spelman in May 2012 I was diagnosed with Stage 4 ovarian cancer. I was terrified and thought I was going to die. All I could think about was my family, my mother who we just build an addition on to our house so that she could live with us. My daughter who was still in college and my husband Pete, what would he do without me? I had to fight and not let cancer take my life. I had a grueling surgery and 6 months of chemotherapy. Everyday I put my faith in God and prayed that he would pull me through. I was blessed to have my family who supported and cheered for me daily. I had friends who let me express my feelings and cry if I needed too. I had a positive attitude and took each day as it came. During my chemotherapy I would take a week off and then go back to work. I attempted to keep my lifestyle as it was before my diagnosis of cancer. I am happy to say that after all this I have won and I beat cancer. Everyday I am grateful to be alive.

Cancer changed my life. It taught me what is important and what is not. It also showed me who my real friends are. I have decided to do my part and give back to the world. I have organized with the American Cancer Foundation a “Relay for Life” (Team Sunshine)  that will take place on June 14, 2013 in my hometown of Southbridge. I want to raise money and support so that someday we can put an end to cancer. Please see the link below for more information and how you can donate or help.

Thank you

Danni

Ageless Soul

forever young    After spending a week in a nursing home caring for a close friend I came to realize that we are all very young on the inside.  None of us want to age or grow old.  Unfortunately this is part of the aging process and is meant to teach us a valuable lesson.  I ponder what that lesson may be.  Perhaps it is a chance for others to give back to you and show you how much they care for you and your well being.  This of course could be different for each person.  I hope my week with my friend showed him that I cared for him and his well being.  We must remember just because someone’s body is older doesn’t mean that their mental state is older.  I do believe our soul remains “forever young”.

Not quite a positive thought for the week but something to ponder.  ~Sara

Choices

we all have a choice

Over the past few weeks I have been thinking about choices.  How many times do you hear someone say they “don’t have a choice”?  This can refer to a job, family situation or friends.  We always have a choice.  We can choose to stay in a job we dislike, choose to stay with someone, choose what we want to do.  People will say they don’t have a choice because it is easier to stay where they are at and not make a major move or shake things up.  It is also easier to say you don’t have a choice because choosing causes you to take responsibility and accountability for your actions.  When we make the decision to have a choice we give ourselves freedom and power over our actions.  Think about it next time you comment that you don’t have a choice,  remember that you do and that you are choosing to do something because of the consequences and outcome that it brings.  Remember having a choice gives you freedom.  Have a wonderful week.  ~Sara

Capture the Sense of Abundance and Watch Your World Change.

554962_10151894580945624_762361147_n

Here is the success story of one of my favorite authors J.R. Rain.

In October 2004, my car was repossessed. I lived in a basement storage room for four months. I

stole food from grocery stores and from my roommates who lived in the real house above (I am reminded of the movie classic “Metropolis”). My brother eventually gave me $500 that saved my butt.

In the summer of 2005, I declared bankruptcy. I owed almost $70,000.

In April 2009, I moved to a single-wide trailer in Washington that I bought for $500.00.

For most of 2009, I primarily received free food from the local Help House, which gave me two bags of groceries each week, including dog food for Sadie.

In August 2009, I published Moon Dance on Kindle.

9 months later, in April 2010, Moon Dance hit #1 on the Amazon vampire charts.

Beginning in April 2011, I had the #1, #2 and #3 best selling vampire novels on Kindle for four straight months.

These days, I no longer live in a single-wide trailer. I live in a three-story home that overlooks Puget Sound.

Many have asked what I did to help turn my life around. A lot had to do with timing. After all, I had a number of books ready for Kindle when Kindle opened their doors to indie authors. Except I didn’t have success on Kindle immediately. It took 9 months to see my first wave of success.

In January 2010, I bought a book called MONEY, AND THE LAW OF ATTRACTION by Esther and Jerry Hicks. I put the exercises within the book to work. Each day, I focused on removing the feeling of “lack” from my life, and replace it with a feeling of “abundance”. Trust me, this was hard to do, especially when I was waiting in line for free food at the Help House. But Law of Attraction doesn’t need much from you. All it needs is a few minutes of your time each day. During these few minutes, your job is to take your mind off your present worries, and put your mind onto abundance. Or, more accurately, onto what it would “feel” like to have abundance. Your goal is to capture that “feeling”. That’s it. Capture that feeling and live within it for a few minutes each day. Play games with it. Write out how it would feel. Write pretend checks for things you want to buy. Weird, I know, but such exercises help capture the “feeling” of abundance. Next, make a conscious effort to refrain talking about what you don’t have.

Then be ready for inspiration to strike. Be ready to take inspired action. Don’t push anything. Wait for a great idea. Wait for inspiration. Wait for that wonderful nudge from God and the Universe. That nudge means that’s something wonderful is waiting for you.

I wish you success in all things. Remember, you are loved more than you know. It’s no accident that you are here on this earth. You are no accident. Life is no accident. Enjoy the journey, my friends.

Much love,
J.R.

Positive Thoughts For a Bad Day.

Everyone has days when it seems like nothing is working out to your benefit.  The boss is mad, you had a fight in the morning with your spouse or your child.  You are down or feel frustrated.  You keep making mistake after mistake.  We all have days like this.  Thank goodness it is not like this everyday. When we are having a bad day remember to take a breath and keep thinking positive.  There are times when I have to keep repeating the same positive thoughts just to get me through.  Remember tomorrow is a new day and things will improve and you will be okay.  This is my STAY POSITIVE thought for the week. ~Sara

Standing Alone

There are times when we are put in situations that challenge our feelings, morals and ethics.   The decision we must make  is a tough one and may put us in the line of fire with friends, colleagues, family or neighbors.  How many of you have been put in this position?  I am sure we all have at one time or another.  Some people make their decisions based on other’s opinions or thoughts.  Some people fear standing alone for what they believe in and tend to get lost  following the crowd.  I am here to tell you that it is OKAY to stand alone for what you believe in.  We need people who are willing to take a stand for what they believe.  Just one person doing this can make a difference and inspire courage and change.

right choice to stand alone

That is my STAY POSITIVE thought for this week.

Facing Fear One Day At A Time

Story by Darick Reed

Hi. My name is Darick Reed. I am a 36 year old recovering alcoholic and drug addict. I have been homeless and listed as a missing person. I struggle with anxiety and depression. I have failed in business, and I am severely in debt. I have let down countless friends and family members. I turned my back on my own talents and dreams. I nearly gave up on myself, because I believed I was a failure. So I hid from everything. For ten years.

Afraid.

It took enough pain and despair for me to figure it out. It was FEAR. I was afraid of everything; success, relationships, being alone, dealing with my emotions, criticism, failure…

Today I accept full responsibility for my past, and it is time for fear to understand that I am back in charge. My future has been on hold for way too long. I am going to turn my life around, and it all begins RIGHT NOW.

I am declaring A WAR ON FEAR. I am going to do what I want to do. Starting a blog is one. Helping people is another… I will find a way.

How about you? Do you have your own argument with fear?

Are you really doing the things you’re passionate about, or are you hiding like I was?

How about we gang up on fear together and take over the world.

Because If I can do it, so can you.

The Me Against Fear Revolution begins now.

So put your boots on, fear soldier. I am glad you are here.

Poem “On The Brighter Side”

I wanted to share this.  Thank you so much Abhishek Kumar Singh for writing this 🙂

“ON THE BRIGHTER SIDE”

today let me take you away,
from this world
no , not too far with this steady pace
but
a place , a space , a palace
so bright , perfect
and apart from the dark

where , there is no cuffed heart
-stucked in riddles of dos’ and donts’
where we can breathe
the airs of holyart
and where calmness never arrives
for the depart

let me take you away,
from this world
where we ,hear what the world -audibly sounds ?
where , we can see the world of us -all around
and where no more we’re bound
with the sounds that surrounds us !
in this world ,
that we could’ve earlier found

let me take you away,
from this world
where our skin could feel the showers
of dust
and where ,
we can smell ,flora in a gust
where , iron stays away from rust
and where,
theres’ neither the deception nor disgust
where , there’s only ,
only the satisfactions’ lust !
and we can taste the elixir in ,
in the poisons’ gush
wheres’ only , only -the silents’ rush

let me take you away,
from this world
where , we love our rags and
adore the music of this perfect world ,
that i’ve unchained from my torn bags
in a manner you all , havent’ heard !

where , we can paint the sun
that could set beyond our words
and where , we can compose
this scene with,
the rhythm -of airborne birds
nothigs’ bad , where nothings’ absurd

cuz’ there ,
the dark blows away
just by a spark in rains
and our lifes’ carton -no more contain
the eternal pains
and where ,
evil in this world , no more remains
no more he reigns

let me take you away,
from this world – let me take you away
from this dark , on the brighter side !

-thanks to you ” sara wales ”
